This is always a fun event to end the series with. A number of players having busted other tournaments looking to try their hand at a single variant outside NLH and PLO but still with the big bet option.
We managed 18 entries to this event and saw mixed game royalty back up at the pointy end of the finishing places!
Melbourne’s own mixed game crusher, Joan Allen, would secure the victory and deny Grant Levy of his fourth trophy this week (Two via MGA and one in an APT NLH/PLO rotation event).
With a prize pool a touch over $4,600 we paid the top four as follows:
1st – Joan Allen $1,845
2nd – Grant Levy $1,155
3rd – Jesse Stanley $925
4th – Scott Pavitt $695
With all event run and won it was time to tally the POTS and no surprise it came down to the last event between Grant and Gary to decide the winner! This time would see Grant crowned “the best of the best” across the carnival of mixed games having competed in seven of the eight events, cashing six times, winning two events and walking away with over $17,000 in total prize money and POTS cash for the week.
Congrats Grant!

A big thank you to all players for supporting the MGA carnival this week and to APT for once again hosting our games. A special mention to our dealers who are growing every event and learning new games constantly!
Our next series will be MGA Gold Coast festival to be held from 21-28 May at Southport Sharks on the Gold Coast. The schedule is currently being worked on and will be available shortly! This will be an 8 day festival with 7/8 events being planned. As always, we are ‘mixing it up’ here at MGA so you can expect some additional variants to be added to the schedule, possibilities include:
Badeucey
Badacey
Stud Hi/Lo Regular
5 Card draw (high only) – No Limit single draw
Big O (Five card PLO Hi/Lo – 8 or better)
The above games are being considered with different mixes including, wait for it, a 20 game ‘dealers choice’ tournament where each orbit will see a different person, in turn, select a game variant from the games on offer.
Following the Gold Coast series we will be back in Brisbane from 30 July to 6 August with the Brisbane Winter Championships – another 8 days of mixed game fun to be had!
And do not forget the Australian Series of Poker (ASOP) to be held at Bankstown Sports Club from 22-29 October where some of the biggest mixes and buy-ins in Australian mixed game history will be on offer!
Only at MGA can you play these games, Australia’s first and only true Mixed games event specialists!
