I’m very excited to announce that the ‘Academy’ in Mixed Games Academy is taking its first step in providing an online player education platform! Utilising the PokerStars platform of “Home Games” we are going to bring individual game disciplines into your home and take away at least one of the barriers to playing live tournaments. The “how to” sessions will be run weekly from 7th November (see full schedule) right through until the week before our Summer Mix of Poker live event to be held at Wantima Country Club, Brendale QLD from 16th to 20th January (don’t forget the MGA Ambrose Golf day on 15th Jan!)
The schedule is as follows:
- November 7th – Stud
- November 14th – Razz
- November 21st – Stud Hi/Lo 8 or better
- November 28th – Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or better
- December 5th – 2-7 Triple Draw
- December 12th – 8 Game # 1 – $150 MGA credits (all members eligible)
- December 19th – 8 Game # 2 – $150 MGA credits (Newbies only)
- January 2nd – No Limit 2-7 single draw
- January 9th – Badugi
The above dates and games are the guided training nights incorporating:
- Zoom meeting pre game (from 7:30pm Melbourne time) and during, for any questions and a brief rundown on game play
- Two tournaments (8pm and 8:30pm) – free to play however you will need 20,000 in play money in your account for each game (you can obtain 15,000 every 4 hours, so start today!)
- Each tournament will be a freezeout with late entry for two levels.
- We have some guest presenters/tutors to guide you through some of the game play and provide some beginner tips – I will announce each week who you can expect to see … to start with you are stuck with me!
How do you join?
- If you don’t already have it, download the free PokerStars software or App
- Open the main poker lobby, then click on the Home Games tab
- Click the ‘Join a Poker Club’ button
- Enter my Club ID number: 4921318
- Enter my Invitation Code: getinthemix
Note that tournaments for the weekly discipline will also be scheduled for Sunday nights for anyone interested in honing their skills further (8pm start Melbourne time). There will not be a presenter/tutor at these games or any zoom meeting prior or during – so have some fun with it!
You may request a game be scheduled at any time, please just PM me and I will make it so!
Please note that abusive or inappropriate behaviour toward any other player or representative of MGA will not be tolerated. You will be suspended from all future games online. MGA has a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behaviour, please don’t be the first to have bans imposed upon yourself. MGA reserves the right to extend any ban for inappropriate behaviour to our live tournament series.
