Summer Mix of Poker – It’s time!
Since our announcement about the series earlier this year, the months have flown by! We have been busy at HQ preparing everything from All-in buttons through the something beginning with Z … Zee game cards (something like that).
While the gameplay starts on Thursday 16th January, we are having the inaugural MGA Ambrose Golf Day on Wednesday 15th January from 1pm … we care capping this event at 20 players, there are still a few spots left so let me know if you are keen!
The cost to play is $65 (covers Green fees and shared Cart hire), if you need to hire clubs then add another $30 (or bring your own). Prizes on the day for best (lowest) score, longest drive and closest to the Pin!
Let’s break down the week visually:
Day 0 – Wednesday 15th January from 1pm
Day 1 – Thursday 16th January from 11am
Day 2 – Friday 17th January from 11am
Day 2 also boasts the second (and final) day of play for our Event 1 – The Big Game. Offering late reg and re-entry until the end of Level 11 (First level of Day 2 play).
Day 3 – Saturday 18th January from 11am
Day 4 – Sunday 19th January from 11a
Day 4 also includes the second (and final) day of play for the Summer Mix Main Event – boasting 40 minute levels on Day 2!
Day 5 – Monday 20th January from 11am
But the action doesn’t stop here!
MGA are also bringing you competitions within the competition! We have 2 separate ‘Player of the Series” competitions and a Fantasy team option for you to join!
MGA’s ‘Cock of the Walk’
By playing any of the 11 MGA events you will begin your journey toward the prestigious ‘Cock of the Walk’ trophy. The comp is summarised below:
- There is no mandatory cost for this event
- There are no funds withheld from prize pools for any cash prizes
- Play for the glory and accolades!
- Points are based on:
- ITM finishers receive points
- Points are based on (descending order from 1st) – 80, 60, 50, 40, 35, 30, 25 and 20
- Multipliers based on buy-in to event
- Multiplier based on total number of entries in the event
- An optional ‘side’ bet (held and administered by MGA) of $600 (Generally 10-15 player ante up for this)
- A trophy is awarded for this courageous feat to be ‘Cock of the Walk’ and considered the “Best of the Best” at this event
MGA’s Carnivale ‘Player of the Series’
By playing any of our 4 Carnivale events you may be awarded points toward the Player of the Series competition.
- There is no mandatory or optional buy-in for this award
- There are no funds withheld from prize pools (you also don’t win any cash)
- Points will be awarded to the top 10 finishers (80, 60, 50, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 20, 20)
- There are no multipliers for event buy-in (they are all $250) nor any multiplier for the number of entries
- Simplified system with a deep points system!
MGA’s Fantasy team competition
We are putting the power in your hands, a list of players from previous events will be released shortly with “Fantasy ratings” attached to each name.
- You MUST have 5 players in your team
- You MUST NOT exceed 14 ‘Fantasy rating’ points for your team
- You can nominate a person not on the list
- They must be in your team
- They will automatically be given a 2 ‘Fantasy rating’
- Cost is $100 per team
- You can enter multiple teams
- Results are administered by MGA (no admin costs)
- Updates will be provided daily (prior to start of day’s play)
- On Day 5, as time permits, we will provide more constant updates
- All events (MGA events 1-11 and Carnivale events 1-4) are included for team scores
- Points will be awarded to all ITM (in the money) place getters:
- 1st – 80, 2nd – 60, 3rd – 50, 4th – 40, 5th – 35, 6th – 30, 7th – 25 & 8th – 20 – 8th and lower as applicable
Conclusion
I would like to thank my friends at Empire Poker, Aydyn, George & Taylor for inviting us back to put on another Mixed Games series alongside their ‘Rise of the Empire’ Poker series running at the same time. The boys at Empire are building something special and if mixed games aren’t completely your bag, I encourage you to get down and play some NLH and Omaha with the boys in January.

To my support team, from Marketing and Art-work management (thank you Milo), the dedicated dealing team getting bigger and stronger daily and My Princess putting up with the “what do you think of this design” amongst other annoying questions – you guys are the best. I definitely couldn’t have gotten this far without you all and our players would still be depressed about having no outlet to peel some ‘no sides’ and slide in a wheel card for the win! (When you know you know!)
